The John Titlow Band is a group of five guys who have all dreamed of being what they are today, musicians. How these guys came together, and how they got to where they are today was a long road that, at times, felt like it led to nowhere. However, these men are fighters and never gave up their true passion to play and sing to music loving fans every night!
It all started in February of 2008. John Titlow, the lead singer of the group, was singing before he could talk and has been singing in church all his life. He knew early on that this was his true passion, and he chased that passion for many years before meeting guitar player/ songwriter Zane Long. Zane, although only having 6 years of experience, seemed to have a knack for playing and writing. John and Zane met through a mutual friend and instantly figured out they were just alike. John and Zane starting penning and composing songs together. After compiling a good amount of songs, the guys decided to share them with the public and began playing small acoustic shows for the next year.
When they decided to expand their project, they began with numerous auditions but were never able to find the right person to fill the void of a bass player. That’s when Zane’s younger brother, Zach Long, watched a rehearsal with the group, and overheard the guys talking about needing a bass player and volunteered himself. With a show the next day and no time to rehearse, Zach jumped on stage with the guys and never missed a lick. Zach has been a huge part of the group’s success on stage and in the studio with his abilities to play several instruments. The band was good for the next year, but the group had trouble finding the right drummer and a second guitar player.
In June of 2010, the band met Bryce Russell, who had been playing since the age of 15, and during the past six years Russell made the most of what he had learned and became a well known guitar/session player in the Knoxville area. When joining the band, Bryce and Zane became the perfect duo on guitars working together smoothly and with Zach on bass, the sound was just what the group was looking for. The band was strong playing gigs and having a great time living their dreams, but the right drummer was never there.
Numerous drummers were used and picked up along the way, but the band needed one that was dedicated and great too! In September of 2010, the dream came true when Michigan native, David Fisher found the band. David paid his dues in the Detroit clubs playing everything from jazz to punk rock. The group auditioned Dave and realized his talents, and did not think twice before making him part of the group.
Things take time, which is nothing new for the John Titlow Band. This band opened for Trailer Choir in June 2010 at The Cotton Eyed Joe in Knoxville, TN. They opened for Chuck Wicks, Gloriana, Tracy Lawrence and Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Foothills Fall Festival in Maryville, TN in October 2010. They also opened for Kevin Black, Clint Black''s brother, in May 2010 at the International Rett Syndrome Foundation Conference in Colorado Springs, CO. They continue to pay their dues and live their dreams one day at a time and never looking back.
