At the early age of 5, TJ embarked on his show business career. He worked on TV commercials with well known companies such as Aunt Jehmima Pancakes and McDonald’s. Performing in front of audiences as large as 50,000, was everyday business. He hit the stages of the Lincoln Center of Performing Arts in NYC, as well as Madison Square Garden with Mary Tyler Moore, just to name a few.
TJ invested his time and dedication in the entertainment business by enrolling in the Robin William’s School of Arts. There, he perfected his passion in entertaining that fueled his natural charisma to venture out in Acting & Drama [PLUG]. His wide range of talents soon opened doors to dancing with established artist, such as Stevie B, Noel, TKA, Remy and Nice & Wild. His time with the Robin William’s School or Arts created roots and influences that remain with him to this day.
Raised in the streets of NY, he was inspired by hip hop music and the surrounding Spanish culture with Merengue and Salsa. Versatile in style, TJ was mastering the B-Boy art of the time, as well as embracing his Spanish background.
At the age of 11, he relocated to the Dominican Republic with family. He took what he learned at this early age and formed a group ‘LOS Capris’. His vision and talents once again brought him center stage performing LIVE on national television on the show EL Gordo de la Semana. He had the honor of sharing the stage in a major stadium of Los Palacio de los Deportes with Judy, Los Chico’s, Menudo and Los Chamos.
After returning to the states, he masterminded the creation of 809. The name is a Dominican Republic Area Code that took notice. Soon after, 809 soared into the charts going Top 20 on the Billboard in 1999. It also went #1 on the Box Videos and TJ found himself signing with record label MAX Music. He began visiting South Florida radio studios, which lead to touring in Costa Rica, Aruba, Honduras, and Europe. He performed with big names like Neida Sandoval and Toney Dandrades from Univision TV, Luis Enrique, Willie Chirino, Enrique Iglesias and Patti Navidad. Shortly after his tour, 809 was asked to perform on Pepsi Musica with Luis Fonsi. TJ’s work was starting to payoff.
TJ is currently working on his solo album, exhibiting his charisma and mastery of hip hop, house, pop, R&B and merengue. He’s prepared to share his passion and his dedication for the art of music with the world.
