For those of you who don’t know me, I live in Marietta, GA and am currently a music teacher in the public school system. I am also the Children’s Pastor at a local church. My wife, Racheal, and I have two boys, who keep us busy and on our toes. I pray that you enjoy and are blessed by the songs on this CD. Some of the tracks were written to bring my listeners into a place where they could simply enjoy fellowship with God and some will make you want to crank up the volume and sing at the top of your lungs; still others were written from a very intimate place in my heart. Obviously, the “Barbie” song does neither, but I hope that you will just take it for the light, silly song that it is (we all just need to laugh sometimes). May God bless each of you and may He guide your steps, as you are “following Him”!
In Christ,
Chris
Romans 8:37-39
A bit about each song...
1. You - Amazingly enough, life does not revolve around me. How many times have I claimed to be following Him, but really not trusting Him fully? Lord, help me trade in my dreams and passions for yours!
2. His Prints Are in the Sand - I have always loved the “Footprints” poem and wanted to put those thoughts to music. I''ve looked back a lot and seen where He has carried me through.
3. Guide Me - A song of prayer taken from Psalm 5. Don’t you love how scripture can set you in the right mood for your own personal worship time with God?
4. Hand in Hand - Originally wrote this song with a video of our family through the years as a Valentine’s gift to my wife.
5. Save the Day - This song is very close to my heart, as it was written the week after learning that a former student of mine had taken his own life. I really do think that God would want us to seek Him out in good times and bad. And I really don’t think He would be upset with us asking “where He is” in certain situations.
6. Two Roads - Choices, choices, choices…So many times, we know what we should do, but ignore that “still, small voice”.
7. Growing - This song was written while doing a series on Spiritual Growth with the kids at my church…I think I may have gotten as much out of it as they did! All of you guys my age should enjoy the 80''s sounding bass in this one.
8. It''s Christmastime - Holidays aren’t happy for everyone, but with Christ, we can still find joy and peace in the midst of heartache. Erin Magner does a great job at the turning point of this song...if her sweet voice doesn''t touch your heart, then you may want to check your pulse.
9. How Majestic - Another song taken from the Psalms. Crank it up and enjoy praising an awesome God with this one!
10. You Are Mine - Romans 8:37-39 is one of my favorite passages…nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!
11. Barbie Got Picked Up (by a Dumptruck) - OK, so this Bonus Track does not fit into the Christian genre, but get ready to have some clean, country fun! My boys came up with the main line of this song and got me to thinking, “What would happen if Barbie came down south and started seeing a good ole’ redneck?” This song is the answer!!!
THANKS A MILLION...
So many caring and wonderful influences…so little room on this CD…Yikes!!!
First of all, I want to thank God for his faithfullness, mercy and grace in my life. At no point in my life have I ever deserved the unbelievable love that He has shown me. Yet, He chose to send His son, so that I might have life. Even though I continue to stumble through this life, I hold tightly to the promise that “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor the future, neither heighth nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Racheal…Thank you for your belief in me as your husband. Your love and support for me are much more than I ever dreamed could be. I love you more than any words could begin to say and I am still “walking on sunshine” every day that we are together.
Travis & Cody (The boys)…Guys, thank you so much for just being you. Being your dad is one of the biggest blessings that God has ever granted me. Cody-you bring me such hapiness just being around you…I love to hear you laugh! Travis-you have such a kind and giving spirit. I pray that one day, I might learn to be as much of a giver as you are. It is my joy to watch you two continue to grow and become the men of God that you are meant to be. God has a special purpose for each of your lives and it is my privilage to watch it unfold. I love you bunches!!!
My Family (from in-laws to out-laws and everyone in between)…Thank you so much for your support in everything I do (even when you might not agree). Through thick and thin, I have never doubted your love for me…that is an incredible blessing in itself!
Focus Group Friends…Thank you for all of your time, input and suggestions that you have given. It really means a lot to me.
Sanders Elementary Family…I’ve known some of you for 14 years now and some for a shorter time, but I thank you for your continuous support and friendship. Thank you also to a smaller group of friends (you know who you are) for helping me to get this project up and running, as well as your much needed encouragement!
Steve Coleman and Wildwood Family...My season with you was so rich in spiritual growth and loving friendships (and underground karaoke)!
Kidsplosion & Pioneer Club friends from NBUMC…Even though you think that I am the one teaching you everyweek, please know that God uses your words and actions to teach me new lessons all the time! You kids are awesome and God has great plans for you, so just keep following Him!
To everyone else that I could not even begin to mention…Thanks for who you are and what you do. Many of you will never know the influence that you have been on my life! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
