Details:
December 23rd, 2010, two days before Christmas, Singer/Songwriter Christopher Taylor meets his
dream-girl while he is at Macy''s doing last minute shopping for the holidays.
Her name is Mercedes; she is a cashier and while she rings up his purchase she flirts with
him. He is so taken by her beauty that he finds himself compelled to return to Macy''s later that
evening, in hopes of seeing her again.
She is no longer at work when he returns, nor is she there the next day when he comes back
again, so he leaves a note for Mercedes with one of her co-workers.
Taylor is quite overjoyed when he receives a text from Mercedes later that day and the two of them
begin texting daily over the next couple of weeks.
The day finally arrives when Taylor gets to go on his first date with her and they have a wonderful
time. The evening ends with a promise between them to get together again very soon.
In the weeks that follow they continue to text but Mercedes seems to be pulled away by some
outside influence, possibly another relationship. Taylor gets her to agree to meet him for a
second date but she does not show up and he has never been able to reach her since.
After that fateful night, Taylor began turning the powerful feelings he had developed for Mercedes,
into love songs that he would record and present to the world. This he would do in the hopes of
finding her again and continuing the relationship where they had left off.
Thus the Album, "The Sweetest Dream," was born; it''s a pure and unfiltered channeling of raw
emotions turned into sweet words and melodies that touch the heart and ignite the soul with hope.
This Album taps into a wide range of experiences to which all listeners can relate, including:
Passion, Desire, New Love, Lost Love, and most importantly the lengths to which any of us will go,
in order to hold on to that which we deem to be our own ''Sweetest Dream!''
The haunting title track opens the Album with a cathedral-of-love kind of calm urgency. The simple
lyric encapsulates the plot, while conveying the protagonist''s resolve to reach his lost love once
more, even if only by sharing with the rest of the world, the words and music he made for her.
The second song, "Mystery Girl," captures the lighthearted exuberance of New-Love. The rhythm
pulses with the energetic enthusiasm of days when you first connect with someone special and it
makes you feel like anything in the world is possible.
Song 3, "Afraid Of Love," hides a hopeful optimism beneath a ballad about the fear and insecurity
we all can feel, when confronted by unexpected attachments to new people. Sometimes it''s easier
to run away then to risk being hurt, and therein lies his hope that he will see her again someday,
when she has come to accept and trust her feelings for him.
The fourth song "Superfine," tells it like it is. She is so very very fine, inside and out. The first note
Taylor left for Mercedes said "P.S. I think you are superfine!" She always denied it when he would
call her that but it remained his favorite and the most appropriate nickname for her.
"Text Me Mercedes" is the fifth song and also the first single and video from the Album. The
infectious hook-line reminisces about a time when he was still getting text messages from her.
In a cellphone society, the text has become today what the ''Love Letter'' once was. Written
communication in it''s permanence, can sometimes build greater bonds than the spoken word.
Song 6, "She''s My Muse," marches with a lively upbeat resolve to move on from the pain, and
instead celebrate the beauty and glory of her elusive yet iconic presence in his life. Long gone
is his hope that he will find her again, yet he joyously revels in his chance to share her story with
a world he perceives to be badly in need of the powerful love that she brings with her presence.
"White Hot Sun," the seventh song, paints an ominous picture of obsessive love that, even when
chosen to be left behind, does not cease to make known its demands upon he who bears it. The
love in Taylor''s wordplay becomes the flame of a white hot sun that grows and spreads to engulf
all of humanity before consuming the entire world, and then the universe, in an pyre of passion.
Song 8, "Brave Knight And Bear," tells a fanciful tale of the brave knight ''Sir Christoff,'' and his
quest into the deep dark forest to rescue his maiden ''Princess Emi,'' from the tower where she
is held captive by ''The Great Brown Bear.'' This sprawling epic is a marvelous re-telling of the
Album theme, through a fable setting that reminds us of the timelessness of these ideals.
The ninth and final song, "Hold Your Hand," dives one last time into the pure romantic
essence of the story. As Taylor recounts sweet memories of events that transpired on the
first date with his mystery girl, he puzzles these details trying to find answers to his prayer.
The quiet, ''end of the film,'' kind of vibe that comes across here, leaves the listener with a calm
sense of hope and belief that pure love still exists in the world, for those willing to believe.
