In the genre known as “Folk Music” little has changed in the last three decades. If in fact it has, it’s usually not for the better. Save for Allison Krause, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and very few others, most of it is non poetic schlock.
I was personally handed these recordings when leaving an awards ceremony. I didn’t listen to them immediately but when I did, what I found was something I wasn’t looking for. That is to say, I wasn’t looking because I thought it no longer existed. Folk music about real folks by real folks.
The group leader, guitarist and song writer for the majority of the songs in this collection is Carol Ann Blum who is joined by her sister Mary Lou Sweeney, a song writer and gifted instrumentalist. They are both from West Kentucky. They are accompanied by accomplished song writer, singer and guitarist Jeff Seidel who hails from Virginia. He adds the male counterpart their distinctive sibling harmony.

SONGS, songs of love, hate and indifference, stories they have lived. Listen to Carol and the COASTAL PEOPLE sing their songs. They take you forward and back all at the same time.
