The Pine Box Boys
Uncut Southern Horrorbilly
We die; the unfortunate woman of the American Murder Ballad cannot hope for so transient an existence.
Buried in an unmarked grave, her ghost has been called out to in American song for more than two centuries. No face, no form, only lonely names - Polly, Sally, Maggie, Eleanor.
Fearing, perhaps, her suffering incomplete, THE PINE BOX BOYS have raised this poor haint again through new songs of unforgivable deeds, guilt, and loathing. She is repeatedly shot, stabbed, cut, and ground into powder by a nefarious collection of bad men.
For the past year, THE PINE BOX BOYS have been hollering these mean songs at Bay Area audiences. Founded by Arkansan-in-exile Lester T. Raww, their music is a blend of Americana and bluegrass, often with dark overtones, often with up-tempo sincerity.
In March of 2005, THE PINE BOX BOYS released ARKANSAS KILLING TIME, a sort-of musical rogue''s gallery celebrating these killers and their acts. Although the songs have clearly been dragged, like a bloody sack, through some very tall bluegrass, they are unmistakably original.
"Whosoever diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him." -Proverbs 26:27
"Murder is always a mistake - one should never do anything one cannot talk about after dinner." -Oscar Wilde
