"I like the eastern flavours a lot; they bring a unique quality to Behiye’s music which is a rare thing to hear. Strong lyrics
too, it''s great that she is writing narratives and characters rather than the usual ''pages from a diary'' style that is so
common. Finding your own sound is always difficult and many artists never do..."

‘Season Of Plums’ is the gorgeous debut EP sampler from Sydney-based singer/songwriter Behiye Suren. It follows a five-year journey of writing/touring in Australia, the USA and Europe under an artistic grant, as well as post-graduate
music study. This collection of old and new material is the result of years of work and exploration.
Behiye (pronounced Bare-Hee-Ye) draws on her Turkish/Australian heritage to create her distinctive blend of lyrics and melodies. With a rich voice that is at once emotive and soothing, she tells stories around the theme of human relationships,
taking her listeners on uplifting and dark journeys against the backdrop of the Australian landscape,
the seasons and the sea. Described as ‘soulful folk with a middle-eastern twist’, her sound is reminiscent of artists like Aimee Mann, Joan Baez and Lior.
Behiye’s recent performances include live-to-air shows at Bondi FM, The Rocksong festival, The Northern Beaches Music Festival and the Lovejam Festival (Australia). Behiye Suren’s EP sampler ‘Season Of Plums’ is an introduction to her music before she travels to Istanbul and the Middle East to perform, write her new album and return to Australia in September
2011 in preparation for touring.
Stay tuned for more music and tour dates in 2011 and 2012.
