Bryan had a spiritual conversion in 1970. He had been living in New York, and not doing very well. In December 1970 his mother Elizabeth was awakened at 2:00 am from a knock on the door. There stood Bryan, suitcase and guitar in hand. He opened his suitcase, took out his Bible which had written on the inside "Bryan Andrew MacLean on the event of his salvation, December 1970". He opened his guitar case, took out his guitar, and sang to her his first Christian song, "Blessed Salvation". Through the next 28 years of his life he never stopped writing worship and praise songs. They were very personal, yet meant to give hope to a hurting world and discouraged Christians.
