A professional musician since 1952, Bob has lived and worked in almost every major city in Canada: Winnipeg, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto, where he has resided since 1991. He has been a great influence for hundreds of other Canadian musicians, and is considered to be one of the finest Canadian Jazz pianist.
In the last few years the most satisfying musical experience was with Shirley Eickard recording for and touring to promote the album “Coming Home” (1997-98). Bob has also performed and arranged for Georgia Ambros latest albums. In 1996 the Bob Erlendson octet performed at the Toronto down town Jazz festival as well as ten club dates. The octet material showcases Bobs’ considerable compositional style and arranging ability. The majority of the Bob Erlendson octet charts were written during the 1986 year run at the Palliser Hotel in Calgary. In 1998 Bobs’ original material was performed in a trio format with George Koller on bass, and Archie Alleyne on drums, live from the Ontario Science Center in Toronto for the radio station CJRT. One of the original tunes was written for the occasion and entitled CJRT.
His two previous albums, “Solo Piano” and “Pardonnez Moi” have received wide critical acclaim. As well as his studies of classical piano, Bob spent five years of intense study with renowned theory and composition master, Gordon Delamont, and teaches an advanced music program himself. Bob has played his distinctive piano style in every conceivable venue from concert halls to local clubs.
