In a secret nightclub run by assassins, who lives? Who dies? And what does God have to say about it?
This is the original cast recording of the music from “The Oil Boiler”, a theatrical event first staged at The Living Room in Kansas City, MO in May of 2010. “The Oil Boiler” is the story of a neurotic hit man named Leon Nesrac who, in the moments after killing his lover, has a discussion with his selves and God about free will, blame and salmon.
“The Oil Boiler” was conceived by Tyson Schroeder as a series of darkly humorous vignettes. As he worked with co-producers Christian Hankel and Erin McGrane, director Scott Cordes, musical director Jeff Freling, and set designer James Pastine., the play grew into a fully emmersive theatrical experience. Every member of the cast and crew had input (no really, they did!) into the process, making this a truly collaborative, cross-discipline performance piece.
These songs were recorded live on July 19 & 20 in the same room where the play was originally staged. There were no overdubs or recording studio tricks, just a stage full of live microphones, a group of talented musicians and singers and one calm, cool and meticulous sound engineer.
