PROJECT X is an effort to record new versions of the classic soundtrack of Mega Man 2. The album was first released as low-fidelity mp3s in 2002, during the early days of the video game remix music community. For this 2011 digital re-release, the tracks have been remastered from the original source files, their dynamic range expanded, and their laser-guided musicality focused to a blistering sizzle.
All fourteen tracks on the album are re-arranged and re-imagined interpretations of the original songs from the classic video game. The end result is a merging of organic guitars, synthesizers and drums with the unique compositional limitations forced upon the soundtrack composer by the original game system''s sound chip''s limited polyphony.
In the years since the album''s original release, the video game remix community has grown and changed, but the songs from this game have always been stone-cold classics, and these interpretations are widely considered to be among the best. Now remastered, they''re better than ever!
Project X is the work of Nicholas Burgess and Mike Gintz, who have also released original rock music under the names Clawjob (https://www.tradebit.com) and Hex Map (https://www.tradebit.com).
