Details:
This CD is my fourth instrumental disc, featuring all original
compositions, all part of a forty-five year journey on the fretboard.
I''m proud to feature four veteran musicians, each of whom I have a
long history with, and all picked for this project because of their
versatility, experience and fire in their playing. Most of these tracks
were done in a take or two, with hardly any overdubs, creating a great
live vibe in the studio. Here''s the skinny on
these superb musicians. Enjoy the music, and hope these tracks connect
on different emotional levels for you.
Tyler Buckley (drums): First met and worked with Tyler at The Belly Up
Tavern in Solana Beach, California, in 1984-85, with Stone''s Throw,
later embarking on gigs on the Princess Cruise Line as well. Since
then, he has become a highly versatile drummer, playing in numerous
bands and one of the busiest on call drummers for freelance gigs in
the Southern California area. Also a superb vocalist, a great
combination, to go along with his stylistic experience and versatility on
drums.
Fred Lanuza (keyboards): First worked with Fred in the 1989 San Diego
Repertory Theatre production, "Are You Lonesome Tonight", where he was
the musical conductor. A fierce improviser, Fred can play fluently
over any style of music. An arranger and composer, as well,
he has a long musical history in many forms of world music, as well as
his mastery in all tributaries of pop musical styles.
Chris Klich (saxophones, flute & clarinet): First met Chris when I was
musical conductor for the 1991 San Diego Repertory Theatre production,
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show." He was subbing on tenor sax one
night, and I instantly noticed the soulful expression coming from his
horn. An eclectic improviser, he can evoke many moods with his
multi-instrument proficiency, featured here on six different woodwinds,
Steve Araujo (bass guitar): First met Steve in 1992, as a fellow
faculty member at The National Guitar Workshop in Claremont,
California. As an in house bassist, Steve''s versatility sparkled, as he
was challenged by numerous arrangements from all walks of
music. Since then, he has toured around the globe with show bands, top
40 acts, rock, country and Latin ensembles, in addition to hosting his
popular YouTube site, "The Bass Hang."
