Cited as "A Mighty Fortress of Skill" by the Washington Post, the internationally acclaimed Wartburg Choir is an ensemble of great tradition and distinction. For nearly three-quarters of a century, the choir has continued to develop a reputation for a cappella choral excellence. The ensemble has received critical international acclaim for its versatility, performing some of the most challenging pieces ever written for choral ensembles. During the past 20 years, the choir has performed in such prestigious concert halls and events as the Avery Fisher Hall (Lincoln Center, New York City); Carnegie Hall in New York City; Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis; Chicago Symphony Center, two national conventions of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA); a North Central ACDA Convention; and throughout 38 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. Outside the United States, the choir has performed in 15 European countries, three of the Canadian provinces, South Africa, and national and international music gatherings.
"Flood My Soul with Spirit and Life" was inspired by the destructive and restorative power of the floods that occurred in 2008 in Eastern Iowa. This theme was used on the Wartburg Choir''s 2010 U.S. tour.
