Details:
The Wildwood Ruminators is a new group emanating from the fertile musical soil of the Muscle Shoals, Alabama area. The trio is comprised of veteran singer/songwriter and independent producer Eddie Martin, Tony Lee (formerly of the celebrated Celtic band, Full Moon Ensemble) and John Jackson (leader of the pop/punk band, Jessica’s Mistake). All three members are Shoals-area natives yet come from disparate musical backgrounds; it’s an interesting mix!
The self-titled debut album from The Wildwood Ruminators combines each individual member’s various influences into a singular musical vision. The resulting, unique brew of all-original music focuses solidly on the songs themselves while keeping the production fairly minimal, with only percussion added to the two-instrument/vocal approach taken by the group. In addition to Jackson, Lee, and Martin, Chris Fryar (from the highly successful Zac Brown Band) is the only other musician to make an appearance on the project. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Daniel Beard, Martin’s longtime creative partner.
Acoustic and electric guitars combine with bouzouki, bass, and dulcimer to evoke a rootsy, laid-back vibe throughout. Songs and emotions run the gamut, from the timeless lament of “I Used To Love Purple” through the brooding moodiness of “Bare Bones” to the intricate, fragile spiritual beauty of “I Still Pray For You”, while passing through the back-porch stomp of “Ruminator” along the way.
The Wildwood Ruminators have served up an album for those seeking an authentic musical experience, without gimmicks. Be sure to check them out.
