The epic debut - "Leviathan" spans four years of work, multiple hardware breakdowns and several changes in conceptual direction. After getting the studio back in working order in April 2003, three months of intense work followed. Material was compiled, additional sound design was made, and tracks were rewritten or extended in order to give the album a flow. On the first of July it was complete, clocking in on an intense 34 minutes.
On the technical side, Leviathan is completely instrumental, slow/mid-tempo, and the composition and drum programming range from ambient to massively symphonic, occasionally entering disharmonic and arrhythmic territory. Although there are some experimentation with polyrhythm and polymeter, most notably on the title track and "Regeneration", most of the album follows a militaristic march structure, brought to its triumphant peak in the closing track "Confrontation". The arrangements are widely varied, and include distorted beats, brittle and fragmented synthesizer tones, electric guitar used for drones as well as a lead and rhythm instrument, organ, piano, strings, brass, percussion and drum kits. Of the acoustic sound sources, many were also mangled into broken and corrupt textures, through various forms of distortion and modulation.
