Details:
New York Singer Songwriter Musician Roxanne Fontana spent two summers living in Amsterdam Holland in the mid-80s. Over both Summers she took trains to the city of Arnhem which is closer to the German border. There she recorded about eight songs with local musicians Peter de Kok, Lex Seidsma, Gerard de Braconier, Igor Van Zalen. She returned after visit one, to New York with the demos which were virtually ignored by the music industry in the US. Determined to relocate permanently to Holland the next year she changed her mind after recording the second batch of songs convinced the US would be interested. Following that trip she got much attention from the tapes, including Capitol Records who were listening to the music in both their NY and LA offices. At a meeting they requested the band play some showcases for them but did not want to pay for the flights of the musicians or anything till they saw the band live. The band staunchly Dutch and finding the US music business humourous, declined. Producer Tony Bongiovi of the Power Station studio in NYC bought the master tapes as Fontana could not afford them, and had them shipped to the USA. Bongiovi planned to work with Fontana at that point but decided to retire from the business instead, after having massive hits discovering his cousin (Jon Bon Jovi). Roxanne played acoustic shows after these tapes, around NYC for years, then started forming bands again in Los Angeles and New York City playing clubs for the rest of the 1980s and 1990s before recording and releasing her debut Love Is Blue in 1999.
