Reviews of When the carnival''s gone
"This couple hail from Cornwall and provide us with some really sweet, lilting folk infused with well balanced M/F vocals and warm, perky instrumentation. There''s some traditional elements but… …all these songs are charismatic Artichoke originals. They even employ subtle field recordings at some junctures - these were recorded in Prussia Cove, a gorgeous inlet not too far from Penzance - there''s some genuine Pirate heritage round those parts! Once again i''m having to pull my pants back up after they were literally charmed right off my hips… …you''d be a right doylum if you ignored it!!"

"…ten tracks recorded beautifully by Simon Trought at Soup Studios in London. A charming collection of lovingly crafted, multi layered and arranged songs, featuring Dee’s lovely vocals and mostly acoustic instrumentation with atmospheric field recordings captured on the shore at Prussia Cove. One of the best debut recordings I have heard this year so far."
