Details:
LARP expand their musical horizons on this third album. Still fast, funny and frequently furious, the full on 4/4 relentlessness of pophideous and Podged has been supplemented by some new and interesting colours on ViVa eVoLuTioN.
Their ‘Clash inspired’ (Wired Mag), sound ‘veers all over the punk pop shop’ but is still focused on the pompous, gluttonous and ludicrous with equal venom.
Hiddy (Vox), Lean (Guitars), Smax (Bass), and Pasty (Drums) have consistently gigged around London and a couple of festivals around the UK since 2005. Smax brilliantly left earlier in the year to focus on being Beck’s dad. Pasty immediately leapt bassward leaving the drum stool to be filled by OJ LARP’s first female member.
Pasty’s assertion that ‘Nobody think’s we’re shit’ is borne out by the warm reception LARP has had from every audience we’ve ever played for, even if they really weren’t up for it when we walked on stage. LARP pride ourselves on our live shows we’ve played the same songs loads but we’ve never played the same gig twice.
ViVa eVoLuTioN is our best album. If you turn it up to ten, imagine it about a third faster in a room full of drunk polish fans who came to see a metal band but wound up jumping, moshing, shouting along and shaking their heads you’ll be close to what we love about LARP.
