Born and raised in Mountain View, Arkansas, Emily Phillips kicked off her fiddling career in 2005 at age 9 with the Music Roots program which teaches young people in the local school system traditional music on acoustic instruments. In 2006, Emily began attending fiddle and string band workshops and developed a love of old-time music. She is now 14 years old, has been playing fiddle 5 years, and is also learning to play banjo and guitar. Emily performs and dances at the Ozark Folk Center, Taylor’s Sons of the Ozarks, and for the Ozark Traditions Square Dance group. When she’s not playing music, Emily loves to play tennis, hunt, and fish, and raises Alpine dairy goats.
