THE ALBUM
The album was recorded and produced in the band''s various friends'' apartments in Boston. After dozens of fast-paced weekends sleeping on floors, romping around the city, and dodging parking tickets, the group completed this first official collection. The enticing variety from one song to the next captures the creative urgency with which the band wrote and recorded the songs, making for a uniquely personal and addicting listening experience. On the album are infectious, high energy songs revisited from Evin''s early teenage hood like "Casey Beach" and "H.B.D.P." as well as more emotionally mature, soulful tracks like "Found Out" and "Part of You".
With this collection the Evin Baird Trio showcases a unique spectrum of musicianship and expression, with a particular affinity for pop, perhaps the one and only umbrella you could fit their sound under. The Evin Baird Trio is the genre bridge, their diverse songs unified by Evin’s distinct voice, capable of both the falsetto and vocal acrobatics characteristic of R&B, and the belting power of rock n’ roll. At an EBT show, you''ll feel a gripping energy flowing through pop-charged tracks, electric riffs that will have you making your way to the pit, and vocal hooks that will follow you for days.
THE BAND
Evin Baird Trio is a pop rock group which formed in 2008 in New Hampshire. The band consists of Evin Baird (lead vocals, guitar), Dave Leblanc (drums), and Nick Wisse (bass).
Evin Baird and Dave Leblanc grew up blocks from each other in their hometown of Nashua, NH, but were actually barely acquaintances before forming a band in high school with some mutual friends. They quickly became close through their mutual passion for music, and have since continued to write songs and play together. Their first band, called Seating Capacity, played the typical high-school band circuit (sweet sixteen’s, battles of the bands, charity events, sweet sixteen’s, local restaurants and small venues, and sweet sixteen birthday parties), and without it, they wouldn’t have been nearly as cool, although they like to pretend that they would have still met girls.
Seating Capacity performed Evin’s first fully developed songs (like “Casey Beach” and “H.B.D.P.”), written mostly about the band members’ and their friends’ crazy girlfriends, along with some covers of their favorite songs by rock groups such as Maroon 5, Taking Back Sunday, Third Eye Blind, and Panic at the Disco. Besides a mutual thirst for chasing ludicrous thrills, girls, and high school parties, Evin and Dave shared a delicate approach to songwriting. Interested in writing and the arts from a young age, Evin used music as a means to explore the nature of the people around him, while drumming provided Dave an outlet to chase his dreams of stage lights and arenas, as well as stay close to his father and first drum teacher, the late Stephen LeBlanc.
Seating Capacity disbanded when Evin graduated and went to the University of New Hampshire, but the music lost no momentum when Dave graduated the following year (2008) and also went to UNH, the two having decided to pursue a serious career in music while working towards their degrees. At his first year at UNH, Evin plunged headfirst into the music scene, playing every café, charity fundraiser, open mic, campus event, and dormitory lounge that would let him. It was at these that he became friends with Nick Wisse, who would later become the bassist for the Evin Baird Trio in 2008. Nick didn’t like Evin much at first—he thought Evin was cocky. They soon found common ground musically, however, and Nick came to know Evin’s sensitive, genuine, and modest nature, realizing he had actually just been jealous of his good looks.
When Nick joined the Evin Baird Trio, he was already a highly inventive songwriter/rapper/producer in his own right. He had been in a couple bands in high school, one a progressive metal quartet, and the other a pop rock group which performed Nick’s original songs as well as covers the likes of Dave Matthews Band and Jason Mraz. By the time he got to UNH, he had already released a solo acoustic album, as well as a hip-hop mixtape, all written and produced himself. It was obvious to Dave and Evin that Nick had serious talent and passion, although it hadn’t always been entirely clear to Nick himself. Nick came to UNH to major in business and systems management, but with encouragement from Evin and Dave has since created "Party at UNH," a Miley Cyrus remix that overnight became the anthem of the UNH campus, and released two mixtapes under the his solo alias, Valhalla—all while earning his degree (like a boss), and making music with the Evin Baird Trio.
The Evin Baird Trio has spent the last year recording and preparing for their self-titled, first official release. In the past year Evin has been writing more songs than ever before, which the band is already refining and preparing for the next release, refusing to lose momentum.
