As Sergeant Bob Fenster, the vocal soloist with the Army Ground Forces concert orchestra selected by the Captain/conductor in auditions of soldiers with radio experience, performed show tunes such as from Oklahoma etc. And a Springfield Mass. newscritic wrote: after the orchestra''s fine performqnce of Bach''s Toccata and Fugue and Tchaikovsky''s 1812 overture, Sgt. Bob Fenster came out and he ''brought down the house'' with his rendition of "Strange Love" from a Broadway show. Rather than take the Captain''s offer to re-inlist, he preferred to go back to New York and plug his songs. As things turned out the Army Ground Forces Concert Orchestra appeared at Carnegie Hall a year later on their next tour. Bob Fenster was in the audience.
