Stephen Amos
Steve was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and has been writing and performing since 1964. As part of a folk duo, he performed at The Cedar, a popular Wichita State University hangout while attending that university. After graduating, Steve was drafted into the United States Army and spent 4 years overseas where he continued his performing and song writing interests. After being discharged in 1973 he toured Europe for 6 months prior to coming home. He then determined to pursue his college interest in psychology, eventually earning a Masters Degree from San Jose State University in 1976 and then his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arkansas in 1980. During his graduate years he continued working on the craft of song writing and was able to have one song published and cut in Nashville. His total earnings on that song were $3.76, so he continued to pursue his education and ultimately found himself taking a position at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine-Wichita. During this time, Steve discovered the Nashville Songwriters Association International and quickly became a member of the Wichita Chapter. It was at those meetings he met and began to co-write with Tina Dod. Tina and Steve currently serve as Co-Coordinators of NSAI Wichita. Steve continues to work part time training resident physicians with the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine while maintaining a private practice in Andover, Kansas. Besides writing, Steve has a love of the outdoors, is an avid hunter, golfer and baseball fan.
