Zac entered the music arena at the ripe old age of fourteen with an award-winning performance at a local Jimmy Dean Country Showdown talent search. He went on to win the Washington State Championship singing the Paul Brandt song, "I Do" and a song he and his mother penned, "If I Had My Way". He has since traveled to Nashville to record with some of the city''s best. The original single from his first album, "If I Had My Way", made it''s way to #1 on the Nashville Tracker Charts in March of 2000 and will pull the heartstrings of the toughest bronc rider.
In the same week, Tracker Magazine presented Zac with the Male Youth Award at the 1999 Golden Music Awards Show. Zac showcased his music that night with a flawless performance at the Café Milano in Nashville. The second song, "Outta Time", also written by the Zac/Mom team, has the brand one might expect of a well-seasoned artist. It''s upbeat tempo makes you want to cheer for the liberation of a tormented heart.
In the summer of 2002, Zac and his guitar were back on stage again at the Colgate Country Showdown, singing two new originals, "In Your Eyes" and "Knock Me Down", for which he brought home the Oregon State Championship.
The small town of Arlington, Oregon has listened to their hometown boy on local radio stations and watched him perform on TV shows such as Portland''s "Good Day Oregon", where his live performance brought about a return engagement. They''ve watched him perform as the opening act for Jimmy Wayne and recently, The Jenkins, for which he was honored with a standing ovation. During a live phone interview on Tri-Cities KORD with country music star Michael Peterson, Zac was likened to a "young George Strait", quite a complement in anyone''s book.
The new CD, "The Me Before You", is a wonderful compilation of 11 original songs, all with the same flavor and style one might expect of a major label artist. You can''t help but picture Tim McGraw or "King George" singing any one of the songs on the album.
When Zac isn''t strumming his Takamini and creating new tunes, he can be found feeding horses and fixing fence on the family''s horse boarding facility or with his head under the hood of his 1968 Ford Pickup "Classic". He has been a volunteer firefighter since the age of sixteen and is an active volunteer for the local Emergency Services Department. Through it all, Zac has maintained the grace and charm of a true country gentleman. His attitude portrays a young man who has his priorities in the right place, a rare find in this day of self-absorbance. For you, Zac, we wish the best.
