Details:
Steve Pichan, singer / songwriter / recording artist composes story based songs, some of which have been featured in recent documentaries. The current CD release, "Wars and Stripes" consists of 12 tracks, half of which have been featured in "Our Vietnam Generation"; a documentary tribute to Vietnam Veterans premiering at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan on January 28th, 2011. Poignant stories such as "Billy and the Fireworks" visits the life of an injured Vet who is unable to watch the 4th of July celebration as it reminds him of the bombs he witnessed during the war. "Look Away" addresses the issue of returning soldiers from Nam who were rejected and spat upon by their fellow citizens while "Five" consists of letters between a Mom and her soldier son whose draft number was five. "Verline Martin" is an elderly lady that Steve had the good fortune of meeting one afternoon and shared a moment of prayer with her during a trying moment. "You don''t know Che" is an unabashed challenge to those who idolize the infamous Che Guevara with jewelery, clothing, tatoos and the like while forgetting his murderous past while in Cuba. During that time, Cuban parents sent their children to the States enabling them to escape the terror reign of Fidel Castro which Steve addresses in "New Jersey Gained".
"Wars and Stripes" is the title chosen for the most recent release as all songs, at some level, deal with current and past wars as well as the civil rights era, communist Cuba and political division within the U.S. reflected in the final cut "What they don''t know".
