Details:
Native American Flute music, light vocals, the HANG drum by PANArt combine on this beautiful recording by award wining, Emo-Southwest musician Randy Granger. The songs blend Traditional, American Songbook, Contemporary and deeply moving Original songs. Most of the songs are solo Native American flute played in the clear, soulful, expressive style that Granger is known for. Across the Wide Missouri or Shenandoah (Shenendoah) as it is also known, is an A Cappella version that is moving. A jazz instructor dubbed him ''The Human Vocal Chord'' for his range and ability. His voice has been compared to "Josh Groban" and a "Transcendent Chris Isaak."
It was at the request of the families of Hospice patients, where he volunteers his music regularly, that Granger learned and recorded ‘Amazing Grace,’ ‘Oh Danny Boy’ and ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow.’ The versions here are, respectful and clear, good for use at memorials or life celebrations.
The songs ‘Every Breath You Take’ by the Police and ‘Redwood and Cedar’ use the Hang Steel Hand Drum by PANArt of Bern, Switzerland. This amazing instrument is based on the Steel Drum, Gongs, Gamelan and Ghatam a. It is played with both hands, sits in the player’s lap and looks like a UFO or two Woks glued together. It sounds mesmerizing, ethereal and yet familiar, especially with the Native American Flute’s dulcet tones..
There is an ease to Granger''s music. A lightness, yet deep soulfulness permeates his Flute Playing Style and recordings. Granger is of Native American, European and Hispanic heritage. He says all his resilient ancestors meet in his heart and that''s where the "Music is Made." He has played at Zion Canyon Flute and Art Festival, earned third place at the Musical Echoes flute competition in Florida, performs at festivals, solo concerts, and benefits. He volunteers his music at Hospice centers and Hospitals, has been the subject of numerous feature articles and has won several awards for his songwriting and production. He also plays and records with the Hang steel hand drum by PANArt. His other CD of Native American flute music, Winter Colors, is available at CD Baby, https://www.tradebit.com and iTunes.
