Details:
Ross Beach was an early collaborator with the group of musicians later known as the Elephant 6 collective. Working in the American genres of pop, rock, folk and country, he has recorded seven solo albums, ten albums with various bands, and one soundtrack for a friend''s nursing school video project. He currently makes his home in Portland, Oregon.
Growing up a southerner, Ross Beach had ample opportunity to internalize the prevailing music styles of the region. This study is fully displayed on Country as Ross uses this genre to meditate on the country in which he lives. On this solo effort, Ross is joined by guest artists from his local music community, with results that veer between the back porch strumming of Will Oldham and the psychedelia of Camper Van Beethoven. "The Proverbial Shit" not only broaches the subject of class in America, but is notable for being the first Ross Beach song title to contain an obscenity.
"...while his overall sound can be cuddly and make you feel warm all over, his songs have a ferocious, hard-to-forget bite."
-Fred Mills, Magnet Magazine
"Fuzzy vox, fuzzy layers of guitar make for a fuzzy good time. This Louisiana native makes efficient pop with a melody substantial enough to remember after the song is long gone..."
-Andrew Dansby, https://www.tradebit.com
"If indie rock were ever in need of a sophisticated, genuine songwriter, now would be the time and Ross Beach would be the man."
-John Wenzel, SPONIC
