Details:
A soulful contemporary Christian singer/songwriter with roots in Rock n’ Roll, Rhythm & Blues, Country and Soul since the age of 15, Terry sings with deep vocal influences from a broad spectrum of artists like Elvis - Tom Jones - Marc Cohn - Joe Cocker - Eric Clapton - Roy Orbison - The Beatles - The Righteous Bros. - James Brown - Otis Redding - Johnny Cash - Bob Dylan - Michael McDonald - John Mayer and Ray LaMontagne, with gospel artists like Bob Carlyle, Michael English, Phil Driscoll and Newsong having a strong Christian influence later on in his life. With this colorful background of vocal influence, Terry exhibits a unique versatile singing style influenced by a rich heritage of soulful singers.
“My Tribute To Ramey” is a compilation of original songs inspired by the homegoing of Terry’s daughter, Ramey Alana Reeves, who fought a courageous battle with a malignant brain tumor in 2008. Her “unshakeable faith” and legacy is the inspiration behind the content and message of the majority of these songs.
Terry says, “When life broadsides you with unimaginable circumstances, the obvious question would seem to be - how does one cope? It’s during these times and trials that what we say we believe, base our life upon and have faith in, gets put to the ultimate test. The songs on this album convey those struggles and questions we all have, and as a result, give us the answers to what I believe life is about, and how we can overcome and be victorious until we get to the other side ourselves”.
About a few of my songs:
“Gateway To Heaven” comes from a personal experience Terry had when God literally opened up the heavens before his very eyes - like He took a knife and split the sky - another dimension was revealed to him and God said, “Don’t worry Terry, one day you will enter in here”.
“Candle In My Soul” is the result of two demons waking me from my sleep and coming towards me in the middle of the night.
“My Tribute To Ramey” was written three weeks after Ramey’s homegoing and is a testament to the pain and emotional struggles of losing a loved one and not wanting them to go. But like the song says, “I know you’re coming home - and it won’t be long”, until we’re together again.
A motto I’ve come to appreciate goes like this:
Those whom you laid in the grave with many tears are in good keeping.
You will see them again with joy! Believe it! Think it! Rest on it!
It is all true!
If we’re Christians, we get two opportunities to live on Earth. This first one
is but a dot. It begins - it ends - it’s brief. The second one will be a line,
extending on forever. We all live in the dot. But if we’re smart, we’ll be
living for the line!
May these songs inspire you to know Him - Jesus Christ - who is faithful and true, and may they give you the encouragement and strength to carry on in your darkest hour.
