Singer/songrwriters Kirk and Robb Gable hail from Southeastern Ohio in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The sons of a painter, both brothers chose to make their livings as tradesmen and are accomplished carpenters and builders. But of course that''s only part of the story, because Kirk and Robb were both picking guitars long before they ever picked up a saw or hammer. And they kept on picking, even when some people thought they should be paying more attention to their work. "Where we''re from playing music is looked upon as something you do for fun, not something you take too seriously" says older brother Kirk, "Dad got us started playing, and even sacrificed financially to do it, but I don''t think he ever thought we''d take it this far".
Probably the easiest way to understand The Gable Brothers is to simply listen to the music that they make. Virtually every song Kirk or Robb writes is about their own real life experiences, or the experience of someone they know. To borrow an over used cliché, they write and sing of faith, family and freedom. And they really mean it. Both men are devout Christians who are committed to their marriages, children, Church and country, and see their music primarily as a means of spreading the Biblical message of faith in Christ and the lifestyle that goes with it.
And their musical message is striking a chord. When family commitments wouldn''t allow a move to one of America''s music centers, Kirk and Robb did the next best thing and made home their musical center. While keeping up a live performance schedule which has included such notable venues as "The Sip of Seattle" in Nashville TN, "The Cup of Joy" in Green Bay WI, and "The Open Gate Cafe" in Reynoldsburgh OH, Kirk and Robb put together a project studio and began to record their music. Then, as so often seems to be the case, "they just happened to be in the right place at the right time". When the digital revolution opened the doors to affordable recording equipment and worldwide communication via the Internet, they were ready.
The late 90''s found them in a position to take quick advantage of the new developments and they didn''t waste any time doing so. They were among the first to offer their music online in the popular MP3 format, and that helped to open opportunities in radio. In the summer of 2000 Christian Country DJ Mark Hunter expressed interest in airing the Gable Brothers'' music on his nationally syndicated Dynamite Christian Country radio show. Encouraged by Hunter''s acceptance of their music they released their first national single "Walk On By" in 2001, followed by "Happy Accident" and then "Pressin'' On" which climbed to #18 on the CCRB Christian Country chart in May of 2002. Kirk and Robb next tested the waters in European country radio where they saw play and chart action in the summer and fall of 2002.
In 2003 the radio outreach was expanded to Australia and New Zealand where The Gable Brothers were warmly welcomed by many Country DJ''s. This along with support from DJ''s in Belgium, Holland, France and Ireland kept The Gable Brothers on the Worldwide Most Played Artist List for several months, and September 2003 found The Gable Brothers song "Pressin'' On" in the #1 spot on The European Country Music Association''s national chart for Ireland and among the top 200 songs for all of Europe.
2004-2005 saw continuing success for The Gable Brothers as songs from their self titled EP found their way onto playlists and charts around the world, including a #20 ranking on the January 05 ECMA Most Played Songs Listing for "Better Man", a song which Kirk co-wrote with his son and Gable Brothers drummer Justin Gable.
