Don FĂ©lix AlduĂ©n Caballery (1926-2003) fue lĂ­der cultural, historiador musical, cantante, tocador de barril y, en nuestros dĂ­as, el mas destacado representante de la bomba mayagĂŒez ana. Natural del barrio sbalos de MayagĂŒez, el cual congrega descendientes de esclavos que laboraban en las haciendas e la zona, desde su niñez tuvo la influencia formativa de personas mayores de su barrio, destacados tocadores y cantores de bomba. Es en este ambiente comunitario donde Don FĂ©lix se inicia en las tradiciones de la bomba y las plena que lo acompañaran hasta el final de sus dĂ­as. Habiendo emigrado a la ciudad de Nueva York, formo parte de vaias agrupaciones de plena, ademĂĄs de destacarse como pelotero. De regreso a Puerto Rico, se dedico con ahĂ­nco al impulso de la bomba. Sumamente activo durante sus Ășltimos anos, Don FĂ©lix participo de numerosos festivales locales y realizĂł giras a varias ciudades de los Estados Unidos presentĂĄndose junto al trombonista y director William Cepeda. Esta grabaciĂłn recoge la fuerza Ășnica de sus voz, su repertorio de cantos tradicionales, sus giros idiomĂĄticos y una presencia que llevaba consigo toda la ancestralidad de nuestra bomba.

Mr. Félix Alduén Caballery (1926-2003) was a cultural lider, music historian, singer, bomba barrel player and in our days the most recognized representative of the Bomba genere in Mayaguéz, Puerto Rico. Originally born in Såbalos, Mayaguéz, a town of African slaves descendants, learned his culture form the masters of his time. It is in his hometown where Don Félix starts in the traditions of Bomba and Plena that he keeps until his death. He emigrated to New York where he form part of different Plena groups . Back in the island, he dedicates himself to spread the Bomba. Very active in his last years, Don Felix was part of numerous local festivals and did some tours through various cities of USA playing with trombonist and director William Cepeda. The cd Candela! bring us his unique voice, his repertoire of traditional songs, his idiomatic turns and a presence that kept all the ancestral essence of our Bomba
