Elgar Violin Concerto 1st Mvt Albert Sammons
This is the Allegro performed by Albert Sammons with the new Queens Hall Orchestra conducted by Sir Henry Wood in the classic 1929 recording.
Sammons was Englands leading violin soloist in his day. He declined offers to perform abroad and spent much time teaching the next generation of British violinists.
Like Elgar he was self taught and like Elgar he was a romantic. He held this concerto in especial esteem and played it whenever the occasion arose.
