Biography

David L. Cook
Mortermer Crabbottom
David began his musical career at the age of five with his family, The Cook Family Singers. David''s parents divorced in 1980 which brought an end to the musical group. David continued singing both gospel and secular music while living in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

His first solo Christian album, Come Follow Me, was released in 1985. The album was written by Frank X. Loconto in FXL Studios in Sunrise, FL. The following year, he signed with the American Musical Academy of Arts Associations AMAAA and recorded a follow up album, Personal Feelings, which made the charts for Inspirational Music.

In 1986, he was personally invited by President Ronald Reagan to perform at the White House.

In 1997 his release In the Middle of it All was the #1 Christian Country selling album and had six number one hit songs according to charts compilied by CCRB Magazine. In 1999 David earned a Dove GMA nomination for Christian Country Album of the Year.

In 1999 he started his own record label simply called DLC Records. During the transition period, David created a comedy character named Mortermer Crabbottom who took the problems of the modern church and placed them in a comedy form that is sure to get to the heart of the most hard hearted person. His weekly television show called "Crabbottom USA" was created for they youth and elderly. It effects the churches, bible schools, and similar venues. Cook even recorded an album in character, Split Personality, based on the life and times of Mortermer Crabbottom growing up in the fictitious town of Crabbottom USA. The album won David the 1999 CGMA Christian Country Comedian of the Year. That same year the CGMA inducted David into the CGMA Hall of Fame, along with Loretta Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Andy Griffith, Lulu Roman and Gary S. Paxton.

In October of 2005 the CGMA named David once again Christian Comedian of the Year. His most recent release is 2006''s Have You Ever.

David is very active within his community. He currently lives in Charlotte, NC and spends much of his time working on charity projects. He was married, but after a four year marriage he now finds himself as a single parent raising his adopted son Shawn.
