Alan Barrington's debut album Good Wood, is his first effort since the early 1980's single OLD AGE, (a compilation LP) which was released by Maranatha Records which also featured, Richie Furay of the group Poco, Leon Patillo, lead singer formally of Santana, and Bob Bennett. Alan's single 'Old Age' received extensive radio airplay throughout the US and Canada.
"Barrington's music is introspective, sometimes delicate work, full of personal observations and emotional sketches", " Barrington offers nicely crafted folk-pop along the lines of David Wilcox or Pierce Pettis", proclaims the Charlotte Observer.
"Alan Barrington with a proclivity for blues-tinged, acoustic music, may be baptized in the fundamental folk of James Taylor and the home spun troubadour style of David Wilcox, Barrington's music lilts through vignettes about love and the simple joys of living. The scantily funky blues-folk strains of "Good Wood" and similar songs have a kind of gentle, head-bobbing appeal, imbuing his music with a kick of innovation", says Creative Loafing.
"I thought this was an amazing album. This man obviously has a heart and talent for music. It was tingeing and the songs are well written and catchy. Thank you Alan, for giving me a CD worth hearing. Those are hard to find."
