THE EXOTIC ONES
Yesterday’s Band of Tomorrow! (and vice versa)
Who are they? WHY are they? From the future, the stone age, outer space, THE GRAVE, and also from a side-ways reality they come. Their songs mix dark magic with quantum physics. It’s ATOMIC-AGE rock-n-roll with a 21st Century twist!
The E-1''s combine all their favorite classic rock styles -rockabilly, psychodelia, surf-guitar, punk, what have ya, mix in a little theremin and hammond organ, and tell (slightly tall) tales of robots, circus trains, wild hillbilly parties, and hungry zombies!
♦ The Exotic Ones take their name from the title of the 1968 horror/cult film (which was also called The Monster and the Stripper) from Nashville’s “first family” of film, The Ormonds (Ron, June, and Tim).
♦ The E-1’s feature members of Nashville’s long-running Celtic favorites The Secret Commonwealth (also available on CDBABY), plus former members of Trauma Team, Dragula, and The Reverbians.
♦ E-1’s founder/lead singer Jack Hunter Daves, Jr. (“Hollerin’ Jack Starbilly”) passed away in 2004, after the E-1’s had played a mere dozen shows. The band was Daves’ dream project since even before he founded The Secret Commonwealth (1993-present).
After his death, The E-1’s opted not to search for a new lead singer, and now all five members share the vocal/songwriting duties. The E-1’s debut album, GO APE WILD, is dedicated to Daves’ memory, and includes two tracks recorded with Daves singing.
♦ The E-1’s wrote and performed “The Doctor is In”, the theme song for Nashville cable’s long-running show, “Chiller Cinema”, hosted by Dr. Gangrene.
When the E-1''s visit Earth, they''re welcomed at rock clubs, parties, festivals, and sci-fi/horror conventions...for a good time, call The Exotic Ones!
