Details:
For years, Jon English’s claim to fame was as the front man and primary songwriter for the Austin indie-rock phenomenon, Plow Monday. After almost three years away from the music scene, Jon is exploding back onto the charts with his first solo effort, King of Everybody , a truly unique blend of Texas-country, folk, and pop-rock that is so catchy it should come with a warning.

A truly independent product, the album was produced, engineered, recorded, written, and performed entirely by Jon.

“For me, this is what music is all about,” Jon said. “You get the chance to play your music, to play what you really feel, without worrying about what the guys in your band, the guys at the label, the guys at the radio will think. The end result is something unique, a style I don’t think anyone has ever quite heard before, and I’m very proud of that.”

Before the CD had even been released, his first single “Texas Brought Us Here” was already picking up where Plow Monday left off, tearing up the internet on Myspace, Garageband, and https://www.tradebit.com. In its first week up for review on Garageband, the song was named Most Original Track in the country genre, proof-positive that Jon has invented a style all his own.

“Texas Brought Us Here is just what it sounds like. It’s my tribute to my home state and the things that we all love as Texans,” Jon said. “And even though I’ve never really played country music before, I grew up on it just like everyone else in Central Texas. When you write about Texas, Texas is gonna put a little bit of her sound in there for you.”

Listeners on-line have described Jon’s sound as Rob Thomas-meets-Pat Green, and Jon admits he’s guilty as charged.

“I want to write music that people like to sing along with, but at the same time I want it to go over well on your back porch while you’re drinking a beer with your friends,” Jon said. “It’s definitely got a lot of mainstream appeal, I’m not interested in people finding my music to be eclectic or hard to define. It’s just me, just as I am, coming straight from my heart to your stereo.”
