SO, WHO IS LESLIE BENJAMIN?
Leslie has been singing around the Eastern Shore of Maryland for over 25 years. She has at various points performed in, directed, and choreographed over 20 local shows and musicals, has released a CD entitled "Late Bloomer," a collection of 10 self-penned tunes through her music publishing company, Mist On the Marsh, Inc., and has performed at many churches and community events. The songs on "Late Bloomer" were all inspired by real life: life as a woman, life as a wife and mother, life as a daughter, a friend, and as a part of the family of God. One of the reasons for the title was that it took Leslie a long time to realize the talent that was waiting inside, longing to have the chance to be heard.
Leslie has run a songwriters'' workshop for the last twelve years through Nashville Songwriters Association International, where writers from the area can gather together and share ideas, plus receive feedback on their writing. A guitar instructor for Mike Elzey Guitar Studios of Cambridge, MD for over a year, Leslie works with beginning guitar students and loves seeing them get excited about music. One of her great joys is singing with her two daughters, Eileen and Kelsey, who are now much older than the tiny voices that are heard on "Morning Rush Hour!" She is an ASCAP writer, as well as a member of the Country Music Association and the Songwriters'' Guild of America. Leslie travels back and forth to Nashville frequently to write and pitch her songs, as she aspires to become a full-time songwriter.
